3Pallets to buy

  • 1000Area

How it works

Pallets = ceil((area × (1 + waste%)) ÷ pallet coverage). Confirm coverage with your sod farm before ordering.

Worked example

Example: 2,000 sq ft lawn with 450 sq ft/pallet → 5 pallets to buy.

Measure the lawn

Break the yard into rectangles. For curves, overestimate slightly—sod farms prefer a small surplus over short delivery.

Pallet coverage

Pallets commonly cover about 450–500 sq ft, but farms differ. Enter the coverage your quote lists.

Install same day

Sod is perishable. Schedule delivery when soil is prepared and you can water immediately after laying.

Frequently asked questions

How many square feet in a pallet of sod?

Often around 450–500 sq ft, but always use your supplier’s number in the calculator.

Should I order extra sod?

Rounding up covers irregular edges. Ask if the farm sells partial pallets for small top-ups.

Seed or sod?

Sod gives an instant lawn at higher cost. Use the Grass Seed Calculator if you prefer seeding.
