Come funziona

Cubic yards from volume ÷ 27. Tons ≈ cubic yards × 1.4 (typical damp, as-delivered sand). Buy quantities round up.

Esempio

Example: 20 ft × 10 ft at 2 in → ≈33.3 cu ft ≈ 1.23 cu yd ≈ 1.67 tons planning weight.

Depth by use

Paver bedding sand is often about 1 inch. Sandbox fill is deeper. Ask your supplier which sand grade you need (concrete, masonry, or play sand).

Tons vs yards

Density varies with moisture. YardCalc uses 1.4 tons per cubic yard as a planning default—confirm with your quarry.

Compaction

Sand settles when wetted and compacted. If finished height matters, discuss compaction with your installer.
