Fonctionnement

Bricks = (wall area in sq in × (1 + waste%)) ÷ (brick length × height). We ceil to whole bricks.

Exemple

Example: 200 sq ft wall, 8×2.25 in face, 10% waste → buy enough bricks for the ceiled piece count.

Face size vs modular size

Enter the exposed face dimensions (length × height), not the full modular size with mortar allowance unless your chart says otherwise.

Waste

Straight walls often use ~5–10% waste. Arches, openings, and cuts push higher.

Openings

Subtract door and window areas from the wall area before running the calculator for a tighter count.

FAQ

How many bricks per square foot?

It depends on face size and joint. Enter your brick face dimensions here instead of memorizing a rule of thumb.

Does this include mortar?

No—this counts brick units. Mortar bags are sized from joint width and wall area separately.

Single or double wythe?

This estimate is for one face layer. Double-wythe walls need roughly twice the face brick unless you use backup units.
